Canon Vixia HV40 HELP!!!!?

Just bought a Canon Vixia HV40 camcorder. I have the new Macbook (not a Pro, and not the newest one that just came out but the one before it, the aluminum) and it doesn't take Firewire, just USB. I noticed that the HV40 takes Firewire, USB, and something called HDMI. the USB, unfortunately only works with still images. I found out too late that in order to import video I have to use Firewire.

My question is, is there any way to import to this computer since I don't have Firewire capabilities? Like, is there some sort of cable I could buy separately to fix this problem? Maybe some sort of Firewire to USB adaptor or something. Any advice is appreciated

There is such a thing as a data mover, but they suck. Massive amounts of data can cause it to turn off and fail.

I use an external hard drive. Go from on PC, onto the external. Then from the external to the new PC.

Takes some time, but it works good.
