Pairing PS3 Bluetooth with iPhone 3G?

Recently I bought the official PS3 bluetooth and it works fine with the playstation but not with my iPhone 3G. When I search for devices it never finds it. It also doesn't work with my macbook but I have read that the PS3 bluetooth should be able to work with iphone and macbook. Anyone know of anything which I could be doing wrong or know of any bluetooth devices that work well with both PS3 and iphone?

you must not be putting it in pairing mode first , without that it's invisible when you search for it .
