Macbook + rootbeer = death?

Once back accidentally spilled root beer on my laptop. From my reader CD has been blocked as if a CD is already there. Is there a way to clean my computer without deleting my entire laptop? It is completely useless? Should I buy a unit completely new? This is a 2 years old Mac, there is no coverage or anything. I all repairs myself. I just want to know if there is a way to clean without removing it!
