What laptop would you recommend for me?

I will be going to college soon. I'll have to write a lot of papers, of course, and I want to download lots of things like music and images. I also think it might need to make and edit video and definitely love the camera, especially one that does not require an external microphone to record audio. Meaning, just want to be able to talk to the computer and record my voice without any extra garbage that implies (for the team I have now, I have to plug a microphone into it and never work right). I've been looking at MacBook, but I know not ... I've never owned anything from Apple before. Do you think a Macbook would be good?
