good editing software video effects for the MacBook?

I am looking for a good program to add effects to my movies .. watch video YouTube, after seeing that some effects do amazing things. I'm looking to make a type of short horror film and things like chain saw demon faces people make use of After Effects is something I want. Is it after effects of a program can do that? I can edit with Final Cut Express 4 times or iMovie. After Effects is very expensive is not a cheaper alternative?

You can use Final Cut Express / Pro is really good, such as Adobe After Effects ", a concept much cheaper!
