Can you save a macbook from spilled coffee?

My boyfriend accidently spilled coffee on his laptop and it went through the speakers. We put it upside down to drain it and let it dry but now the screen is really fuzzy and there are vertical lines. His warranty is probably expired and we can't really afford a new one. Is the video card dead? Or is there a way to saftley take it apart and clean it? Should we even bother or is his computer completly dead?
We dryed it already. But my main concern is the screen when he turns it on. Its fuzzy and looks terrible! I want to know if there is anything we can do to fix it without spending a fortune or should I start saving for a new laptop? If we have to bring it in to get fixed I'd rather just buy him a new one because its old anyway.

Don't bother trying to figure it out yourself. Take it to a Mac Outfitter store and see what they say.
