Sims 3 not working on macbook, BLACK SCREEN!?

I bought and installed the sims 3, but when I a few minutes after launching it the screen goes black but you can very very faintly see the game running and the audio works. I'm running it on a macbook, with 1 GB of ram and an Intel GMA X3100 video card.

I know this is an issue on PC's with out of date drivers and things, but what do I do on a mac!!??

This exact same thing happened to me too, and apparently it's because the screen resolution isn't right. In system preferences under display, change the resolution from 1280 x 800 to 1023 x 768. It worked like a charm for me. It will squeeze your screen though when you're not playing sims and you probably will want to change it back. Which is a little annoying. But it fixes this problem!
