"What is a USB modem?
Do I have one in my macbook, or I can buy one? I am sending a fax. Do I need one of those send a fax?
A modem is a modulator demodulator - a device that converts computer data telephone signals. A USB modem is the one that attaches to the computer via USB port (instead of a serial modem or one that plugs into a PCI or ISA slot inside the computer). MacBook does not come with modems. If you want to use the computer as a fax machine, then you need a fax modem (a modem that is fast enough ... almost all fax modems.)
