Macbook microphone?

Okay, so what I realized is that the microphone on my white macbook seems to be very sensitive when I was recording something or someone to video chat via Skype or iChat. For example, when video chatting with someone and I start writing, you can hear and say it is very hard. Another example when things do I register with GarageBand, and say I move my foot or something under the table, which contains the sound of these things very easily and very few small too. So I'm wondering if I can solve this problem? Because it seems a little embarrassing that the microphone is very sensitive. "Thank you
