Question for Mac users? Spotlight Spotlight or not?

I just bought a MacBook Pro and am having a problem if I had to leave the star the way it is on or off?, I've been googleing it and very even with people to disable it and use it, not the equipment is delayed when the indexing is all BS. I have a Intel Core2Duo 2.6 GHz, so I need some advice from all you MACUSERS. Oh my forgot to add that this is my first mac, lol Ive convert from Windows, thanks

If you have many files that may need to return later, yes, definitely keep it. Spotlight does not slow your computer unless "Index." Indexing is a process running in the background, you get a file hierarchy of all the equipment and makes the search very quickly. If you are economies of many documents, photos, emails, etc, is maintained. You can even search for text in a document, it's really great when you need to find thing.
