Apple Mac repair of Hong Kong - How to reset the administrator password in OS X

Most computer power users will remember different passwords for multiple accounts. Occasionally, you can forget something as simple as your OS X login password. No worries. You can recover or reset the password of a Mac with a few simple steps.

Reset user passwords (does not work with the administrator account)

Mac OS X 10.2 and higher

The new versions of Mac OS X have a password feature practice adjustment of user accounts. Before you start using this method, make sure you are logged in as an administrator. Go to System Preferences window using Path Finder> Applications> System Preferences or by clicking the Apple logo and select Preferences menu system. Click the Accounts icon in System Preferences. Accounts window, click on the padlock in the lower left corner the window open, if not already open. Select the user name password to be changed. Click to reset a password, or click Change password, depending on the version of Mac OS X you are using. Enter a new password for the user account, and type again to verify. Click Reset password, click OK to allow changes if an audit of the system keychain comes.

OS X 10.1.5 and earlier

Go System Preferences by clicking the Apple logo, and selecting System Preferences from the menu down. Reset the password for the administrator account

If you have forgotten the password to your main Mac Administrator account, you can always recover. No But this is a different process to restore the user accounts database (see above). To begin, you should find the installation discs for Mac OSX came with your Mac after installation discs ready to go, insert the Install Disc 1 into your computer and restart the computer. When you hear the startup sound Mac OS X from backup, immediately hold down the C key on your keyboard. You can release the C key as soon as you see Apple logo with spinning loading wheel. This should boot from the disc. If not, try again using the option key instead. When starting from the disk, click Continue on the first screen. When you reach the next screen, place your mouse over the top of the screen to access the top toolbar. Click the Apple logo and the setup menu (as version of Mac OS X you are using). Click the Reset Password option marked.

Then asked to select the hard disk. Select the hard disk of Mac Select your user name the administrator account on the Accounts menu. Enter a new password for the Administrator account, and enter a time to check. Save your changes and restart the computer. The next time you connect, you must have a password administrator.
